As a Manchester food photographer, I love creating images that tell stories and evoke emotions. That’s why I’m excited to share with you the second image of my ‘Killer Condiments’ campaign, a film noir-inspired series of dinner table creations.
This image features a bottle of ketchup as the number one saucepect in a crime scene. I wanted to create a contrast between the bright red of the ketchup and the dark tones of the background, using the chiaroscuro technique to create a lot of tension and drama. I also used a classic film aspect ratio of 1.85:1 to give it a cinematic feel.
The ‘Killer Condiments' campaign is a personal project that I started last month. It is Manchester Food Photography inspired by my passion for food photography and storytelling. I wanted to explore how everyday items can become characters in a mystery plot, using props, lighting, and composition to create suspense and intrigue.
The first image of the campaign was a jar of mustard as the victim of a stabbing, which you can see on my website: blank canvas ink. The third and final image will be revealed soon, so stay tuned for the thrilling conclusion!
